The Peterborough and District branch of the Riding for the Disabled charity has received a donation of £1000 from Burghley Lodge Freemasons, who meet at Scotgate in Stamford.

A further donation of £750 was made to Stamford's 'Alternatives', which advises young people about sexual health and pregnancy.

Bryan Moore, charity steward for the Lodge, and Peter Henson, its immediate past master, visited members of Riding for the Disabled at Grasslands Equestrian Centre in Barnack to present the money to Rosie Bliss, chairman of its local branch (pictured by photographer Lee Hellwing).

Mr Moore said: "The children were beaming because they enjoyed riding the ponies so much. Helping local charities such as these is what the Masons is about."
