A display of face masks made by volunteers from For The Love of Sewing was vandalised and donations were stolen in Stamford

Volunteers were furious to find their display of face masks had been vandalised and donations were stolen.

The display was created by members of For The Love of Sewing who have been making scrubs and face masks during the pandemic.

Members of the public can buy face masks from the display opposite Age UK in St Paul's Street, Stamford.

But on Saturday evening the display was pulled down and the day's takings were stolen.

Volunteer Jo Winterbourne said: "I was absolutely fuming. It was probably kids but they need to realise this virus doesn't discriminate. Their actions might not affect them, but it could affect others they know.

"Why were they even out when we are supposed to be in lockdown?"

The mask display was restored on Monday morning.

Thankfully the donation tin was emptied on Friday but Jo said every penny helps the volunteers to continue supporting key workers.
