Two brothers who have enjoyed success at the top of the classical album and singles charts, are performing in Swinstead this Friday.
Patrick Hawes, a former composer in residence at Classic fm is joining forces with his brother Andrew, the Vicar of Edenham, Witham on the Hill and Swinstead.
They will give a recital in the beautiful and tranquil parish church at Swinstead this Friday, September 11, at 7.30pm.
Last year Patrick’s album Angel was number one in the classical chart, which included several songs whose words were written by Andrew.
The brothers have been collaborating since they were teenagers in the 1970s, and have had a number one hit with Quanta Qualia as recorded by Hayley Westenra.
Last year their highly acclaimed choral work Eventide, telling the story of Edith Cavell, was premiered in Norwich Cathedral by the English Chamber Orchestra and Elin Manahan-Thomas.
At Friday’s recital they are joined by up-and-coming soprano Elizabeth Adams. The programme will explore the themes of the wonder of creation and the pain and joy of love.
Patrick will be playing a Lincolnshire Steinway Grand hired for occasion, and Andrew will read from his recently published collected poems.
Tickets are £15 and £10 (restricted view) and can be reserved by phoning 01778 591358, or at the door.
