Drivers are being advised to check their car tyres ahead of the winter weather to ensure their safety.
A free tyre safety check was held at Tesco in Oakham yesterday, organised by Rutland County Council in partnership with the Leicestershire and Rutland Fire Brigade, Oakham Police and Oakham Tyre Company.
Regular safety checks and maintenance help to make tyres last longer and keep motorists within the law.
Advice issued by the Police says that drivers should; check their tyre pressures at least once a month or before a long journey; pressures should be checked against the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended level; and check the pressure when tyres are cold. Details can be found in the vehicle handbooks.
