Chloe flies the flag for Melton and Rutland in Miss Great Britain finals
She admits she’s a bit of a tomboy but tomorrow night (Friday) Chloe Jardine-Price could be crowned the winner of the nation’s biggest beauty pageant.
The 27-year-old, from Chadwell, near Melton, surprised herself when she won the Miss Great Britain Rutland title two months ago and she is now preparing to represent the county in the Miss Great Britain finals in Leicester.
Chloe, who works at Town and Country Pet Foods in Melton, will have to parade on a catwalk at Athena with the other 49 regional finalists and answer questions on stage to help the judges decide the winner.
She said: “I’m not particularly nervous - it will just be an exciting and a new experience which I am looking forward to.
“I’m an unusual candidate because I’m not overtly girly.
“I’m more used to walking around in wellies and a scruffy jumper than an evening gown.”
As well as the overall winner, which will be decided by a celebrity judging panel including model and reality television star Danielle Lloyd, there are other categories Chloe might win.
She has already been voted into the top 10 for the ‘talent’ section after submitting a You Tube video of herself singing Sting’s ‘Fields of Gold’ in a field in Scalford. The short film shows Chloe with her beloved horse and dog because she wanted to portray the passion she has for animals.
Other categories the contestants will compete for are for ‘congeniality’, the girl the others get on most with, and ‘charity’, for the person who raises the most money for a cause.
Chloe has raised more than £800 for Cancer Research UK over recent months, with a variety of fundraisers such as a cake stall, collections and a party on Saturday at Melton’s Market Tavern celebrating the ‘Best of British’, with music and food from these islands.
She added: “I don’t know if I can win the overall title but I am looking forward to it.
“The competition is about the whole person, not just the way you look, and a lot of it will be down to personality when they make a decision on the winner.”
