A MAN is hoping to raise £3,500 to help the lives of people living in difficult circumstances in Tanzania.

Chris Tilley, who is originally from Baston but now lives in Carlisle, is travelling to the country to help with projects, including refurbishing classrooms at a school and helping with nutrition and diet and building a rainwater conservation system in a village. The projects currently receive no funding from other sources so Chris needs to raise as much money as possible. He is hoping to raise £3,500.

During his trip, he will also be attempting to climb Mount Meru over two nights. The mountain stands at almost 4,600 metres above sea level.

Chris said: “I cannot wait to get over there and help change the lives of people who are a lot less fortunate than you or I.

“All the money I raise, I will be taking to Tanzania to pay for materials which we will use in each of our projects.”

He has paid for all costs himself so anything he raises will go towards helping people in the country.
