Climate change protestors campaign on Stamford High Street as they call on town council to declare an emergency

A "small but growing group" of climate change protestors gathered on the High Street in Stamford today (Friday, July 26).

The group say they are concerned about the climate emergency and plan to be in the High Street every Friday for an hour between midday and 1pm.

Campaigners Val Harvey and Maggie Bentley were among the group. They also held a banner outside a Stamford Town Council meeting this week to ask the council to declare a "climate emergency".

"Anyone wishing to engage with climate issues locally can come and join us every Friday opposite Boots opticians from midday until 1pm.

"We hope to set this up as a more formal group soon who will campaign on climate related issues."
