Colin Ketteringham survives operation

Have your say

A DYING father who has raised thousands of pounds to take his family on holiday has survived high-risk operation this week.

Colin Ketteringham, 50, of Daisy Court, Bourne, was given three years to live after being diagnosed with the degenerative condition multiple system atrophy last year.

He pledged to take his family to Walt Disney World in Florida and began raising funds with the help of the Bourne and District Lions Club.

After generous donations totalling more than £7,500 from businesses, clubs and individuals in the Bourne area and a helping hand from Thomson Holidays, Colin reached his £9,000 target and has now booked his holiday.

On Tuesday Colin had to undergo a high-risk operation to help relieve some of his pain.

Fortunately he has come through the procedure.

Colin said on Twitter yesterday: “Good morning, well I’ve have surprised the hospital staff and survived the operation, now it’s time to get busy living.

“Many thanks to you all.”

Colin and his family will jet off to Florida for three weeks on October 4.
