A number of families have already arrived in Stamford with many more due to be arriving over the coming weeks.

A volunteer group, supported by Barn Hill Methodist Church and the language school Stamford Academy, has started offering services. This includes including admin, case work, English language lessons and donations of clothing, toiletries and other essentials.

The first dinner will be taking place at Stamford College on Tuesday, June 7 at 6pm.

Sarah Young, vice principal of Stamford College, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the settling of Ukrainian families and we look forward to welcoming them and their hosts to the first of many welcome events.

"It’s a great privilege for our students and staff to be involved in such an important initiative to help families settle into our community.

"We value our Partnership with Stamford Diversity Group and the Stamford Town Council and look forward to supporting future events over the coming months.”

Any host families or guests who wish to attend the dinner are asked to email Stamford Town Councillor, Amanda Wheeler: amanda.wheeler@southkesteven.gov.uk.

Numbers are limited, but the college hopes to make this a regular event.
