A personal trainer from the Universal Fitness Centre in Bourne has taken part in his first major fitness competition.
Daniel Tamburrini, 23, from Thurlby took part in the Miami Pro UK Championships in St Albans on Sunday.
The competition was held at the St Albans Arena where a total of 300 athletes from all over the world competed for a number of titles.
Daniel competed in the Junior Fitness Model category (under 23’s) against 34 other models, involving two rounds - swim wear and theme wear.
In the swim wear round Daniel had to complete a routine of poses otherwise known as a t-walk, along with quarter turns to show off his body in front of hundreds of spectators and a judging panel.
For the theme wear round Daniel had made his own Superman costume especially for the event, in which he entertained the audience with his Clark Kent inspired routine.
The judging panel was made up of a number of famous names in the fitness industry including, Miami Pro Muscle Model Champion - Adam Parr, Overall Fitness Model Champion - Tim Chase and CEO and Founder of Miami Pro Events - Angie Weston.
Daniel said: “The competition went really well, it’s something I’ve always wanted to try and there’s lot of opportunities that come from doing it.
“This sort of event can help boost your profile and as a personal trainer it let’s prospective clients know that you are in good shape.”
Although Daniel didn’t place in the top five in this competition, it hasn’t stopped him from wanting to enter more competitions in the future.
He said: “This competition was a trial run to test the waters and see where I placed among the competition, I hope to compete in another competition Pure Elite as a fitness model next year.
“My end goal is that in a few years time I’m up there with a pro status as a fitness model.”
Daniel started out his career in fitness after studying a BTEC Diploma in Sport at New College Stamford, since then he has worked at a number of fitness centres as a personal trainer after gaining his Level 3 personal training and nutrition qualifications.
He now works at Universal Fitness Centre on Cherry Holt Road, Bourne, as a self employed personal trainer.
