COMPETITORS are gearing up for the World Conker Championships near Oundle on Sunday, October 9.
The event is hosted at New Lodge Fields by Ashton Conker Club each year and attracts players from 18 different countries.
Local people are urged to “go bonkers for conkers” and support the event. Organiser Richard Howard said: “As well as being a fantastic family day out, it raises funds to help blind and visually impaired people.”
It features competitions for men, women and children. Other attractions include a fairground, stalls, live music, guide dog demonstrations and a bouncy castle.
Admission is £4 for adults and £2 for children.
