The A1 at Peterborough services was closed for more than an hour in the early hours of this morning because of concern for a man on a bridge over the road.

The road was closed at 2.50am by police following a call from a member of the public.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said: “We were called at 2.50am by a member of the public to reports of concern for a man on the road bridge over the A1 near the Peterborough services.

“Officers attended the scene along with members of the Ambulance Service and the road was closed in both directions. Shortly after 4am the man moved away from the road of his own accord and was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital.”
