A CONCERT to celebrate a composer will not be held in his home town of Stamford as there is not a large enough hall.

Stamford town councillor Sue Sandall (Ind) reported that a Malcolm Sargent concert will be held at Peterborough Cathedral next year. She had told the organisers that it would be nice to hold a concert in Stamford where Mr Sargent grew up.

Speaking at Tuesday’s town council meeting Coun Sandall said: “The choral society sings, there is the endowed school choir as well as the orchestra. There is not a venue big enough to hold that number of people as well as the audience.”
