Charles Read Table Tennis scholar Darcie Proud will compete in the English National Table Tennis Championships over the weekend.

The 13-year-old has recently returned from the Safir International Table Tennis Tournament, where she celebrated her best win against Swedish International player Erika Font.

Darcie will compete in the national under-21 competition, which will be held at the David Ross Sports Village in Nottingham. With the event attracting the nation’s top players, Team GB reserve table tennis player for the 2016 Rio Olympics, Tom Jarvis, will also be competing in the championships.

Both athletes were due to complete a training session at Charles Read Academy yesterday in preparation for the event.
