Coronavirus: Launch of Godmark TV by Goldmark Gallery in Uppingham is a success

The opening of an exhibition that ended up being streamed online was a success according to the organisers.

Goldmark Gallery in Uppingham hosted the opening of the last exhibition by potter Svend Bayer on Saturday (March 21) but the coronavirus pandemic put pay to people attending so it was streamed instead on Goldmark TV.

Managing director of Goldmark, Jay Goldmark, said: "Fine arts and ceramic nurture the soul and our customers need art to lift their spirits in this time of crisis and Saturday’s result was good news for our 34 staff.

"We will continuing with Goldmark TV so that people can browse our gallery at any time of day - albeit virtually."

More than 200 pots were sold at a total value of about £135,000 despite people from all over the world being unable to attend in person.

Goldmark TV showcased a 50 minute film featuring the exhibition, a pre-recorded interview with Svend Bayer and a tour of the gallery.

More than 5,000 viewers tuned in for the launch.
