Tolethorpe Hall will host youth production of Lord of the Flies during the 2020 Stamford Shakespeare Company season




A youth production will be part of Stamford Shakespeare Company's summer season for the first time ever next year.

Audition dates have been announced for the 2020 plays which will include a performance of Lord of The Flies by a cast of 16 to 22-year-olds.

The Theatre Makers programme was launched by Tolethorpe Youth Drama aims to give young actors a chance to tread the boards of the open-air theatre at Tolethorpe Hall.

Marketing manager David Fensom said: "We are looking for young people who are passionate about theatre and performance to get involved in an incredible year-long experience."

Lord of the Flies follows a group of children who are abandoned on a desert island. It gradually descends into a savage fight for survival.

Rehearsals will take place on Mondays from 7-9pm followed by an intensive two-week period when exams finish in July.

Auditions takes place on Monday, October 14 and Tuesday, October 15at 6.30pm.

The main Stamford Shakespeare Company will perform Love's Labour's Lost, Romeo and Juliet and The Importance of Being Earnest next summer.
