Wing Parish Council defends asking residents about medical conditions during coronavirus lockdown

A parish council has defended asking residents to share their medical details, highlighting the benefits its actions are having for the community.

When the coronavirus lockdown came into effect, Wing Parish Council responded with a letter asking every village household to phone a 24-hour number to log their contact details.

The letter, signed by seven members of the new Wing Covid-19 Co-ordinating Group, said this was to identify those that were most vulnerable and what their needs were, in terms of medication, food and social contact.
