LEARN MORECrafters did their bit to support the people of Ukraine.
People from Riverside Beads in Market Deeping had a stall outside the shop on Easter Saturday (April 16) that sold donated items and bargains with proceeds going into the fundraising pot.
They also held craft sessions with materials used donated by the shop.
Donna McKean-Smith, owner of Riverside Beads, said they managed to raise £650 for the Disasters Emergency Committee, which is supporting Ukrainians facing the Russian invasion.
Donna said: “Ukraine needs all the support it can get.
“It’s an incredible amount to raise and everyone there just wanted to help.”
Staff at the shop have held fundraising stalls in the past with donations going to the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough.
Riverside Beads will hold a second event to raise money for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Appeal, on August 7, the day of the Deepings Raft
Race.
Donna hopes this will increase the amount of people out and about and available to donate.
She said: “We know it is quite a while away and we do not want the Ukrainian people to still need help in August, but they may do.”
