Crash causes long delays on A47 at Wansford

By Andrew Miller

There are long delays on the A47 at Wansford following a serious accident.

The accident happened at 2.50pm. The road has been partially closed while emergency services work at the scene.

The crash involved a blue Triumph motorcycle.

Ambulance crews were sent to provide treatment for the rider, but a Cambridgeshire police spokesman said the extent of the injuries was not known yet. But the spokesman said it was not thought the injuries were life threatening.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, suffered shoulder and leg injuries, and was taken to Peterborough City Hospital.”

There is a partial closure of the A47, and traffic is backed up to the A1 - motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible, or expect long delays.
