Police are investigating a series of burglaries in a village.

Four homes were targeted by thieves between April 5 and 17. Police revealed the details today (Wednesday).

On April 5 a burglar tried to force open a patio door at a home in Thackers Way. They did not manage to get in the house.

On April 8 a thief got into a house in Park Estate after sneaking through the front door, which had been left slightly ajar.

The homeowner was upstairs at the time and the burglar stole her purse from a table in a downstairs room.

Between April 9 and 10 some expensive jewellery was stolen from a home in The Brambles.

Thieves broke in to the conservatory before using a garden tool to get in to the house itself.

And on Tuesday night last week a burglar tried to break in to a home in Foxgloves.

Police believe they poked a stick through the letterbox to try and dislodge a Yale lock before giving up and running off.
