Catalytic converter security packs on sale at Oakham police station

Police are selling catalytic converter marking packs in a bid to ward off potential thieves.

The packs are on sale for £5 at the Oakham police station front enquiry desk in Station Road.

They contain a resin and a unique identification number which is registered and provides an identity which is unique as a fingerprint.

The kits can be installed at home but if you cannot fit yours, Adams and Sons garage on the A47 at Morcott have agreed to charge a small fee of £10 for fitting if you turn up with your security pack.
