Four men robbed at knifepoint in Oakham

FOUR men were robbed at knifepoint in Oakham on Boxing Day.

The incident took place at about 10.30pm in West Road.

The victims, who are all in their 20s, were sitting in a car when they were approached by four men who threatened them with knives and told them to hand over items including a Mulberry Purse, two Apple iPhones and some Golden Virginia tobacco which had foreign writing on the packet.

One of the victims was punched and the vehicle was kicked causing damage to the driver’s side door.

Det Con Michelle Preston who is investigating the incident said: “Although the victims weren’t seriously injured this was a frightening incident for them.

“These types of incidents are extremely rare in Oakham and we are keen to trace those responsible. All the suspects were wearing face coverings and hooded tops and were aged between 15 and 20.

“If you witnessed the incident or you know anything about the people responsible then please get in touch. The slightest detail could help with the investigation.”
