Man left with serious face injury following assault in Oakham

A 27-year-old man was left with a serious injury to his face when he was set upon by three men in Oakham.

The incident took place at around 3am on Saturday, May 11, in Mill Street. Police have only just released the information.

During the incident, the victim’s friend saw two women being pushed to the ground. When he challenged the three suspects, they pushed him to the ground where he was punched and kicked, leaving him with pain to his ribs and bruising.

The victim then went to assist his friend where he was attacked by the suspects and sustained a serious injury to his face.

Police are appealing for any witnesses with information to come forward.

Det Con Sarah Walker, who is investigating the incident, said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time.

“I know there were a number of people in the area who have not yet come forward and spoken to police. You may think the information you have is trivial but it could really help with our enquiries.

“I am particularly keen to trace the two women who were pushed to the ground in the incident. They could have important information which will help with our enquiry.”
