People will be able to find out about plans to restructure policing in Rutland at a meeting next week.

Leicestershire and Rutland Police and Crime Commissioner Sir Clive Loader and chief constable Simon Cole will speak at the county council offices in Oakham at 7pm on Monday, November 24.

They will explain their restructuring plan, which aims to save £15.4m by 2017, and will answer questions from the public.

The force needs to save money after the Government announced it would again be cutting the money it receives.

Among the changes proposed are the creation of a smaller team of response officers, based in local hubs, charged specifically with responding to emergency incidents throughout the force area.

The existing 15 local policing units will be replaced with eight neighbourhood policing areas, each commanded by an inspector.

The changes will be described at the meeting.
