Just two weeks after a ‘cruise’ event left eight people in hospital police have intervened after a similar incident in the same area.
Cambridgeshire Police were called to disperse three vehicles after reports of screeching tyres in Orton Southgate late on Friday evening.
One resident compared the noise to a speedway race.
A cruise event sees cars speeding around illegally and residents have complained recently about several such incidents at an industrial estate in Stapledon Road, Orton Southgate.
It has not been stated where exactly Friday’s incident took place. It was confirmed by a post on the force’s Facebook page but the Peterborough Telegraph was unable to speak to anyone at the force.
There was no suggestion that anyone was injured.
But that was not the case a fortnight ago when a Mercedes spun into a crowd of around 300, leaving eight people seriously injured including one who suffered what were described as life-changing injuries.
The East of England Ambulance Service were forced to send out what constituted a large and “unusual” emergency presence, while police arrested a 21-year-old man from Stamford under suspicion of dangerous driving.
One spectator also claimed he felt “lucky to be alive” after being struck by the car.
