Road reopen after crash in Braunston

A ROAD has reopened after an accident involving three cars in Braunston this morning.

Two people have been taken to hospital and one man has been arrested after a Ford Focus, a Vauxhall Astra and a Daewoo Matiz crashed in The Wisp at 8.20am.

Police, the fire service, the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland air ambulance and a police helicopter were at the scene.

A man was air lifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire with serious injuries.

A woman was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary with minor injuries.

The police helicopter team announced on Twitter that it had been sent to The Wisp in the village at 9am after a man ran allegedly away from the scene.

A 23-year-old was arrested in connection with the incident. He remains in police custody.
