St Edmund’s Church in Egleton hit by lead theft

THIEVES have pulled lead worth £1,500 from a church roof.

Police are appealing for information after three sections of lead, measuring 3ft by 7ft each, were pulled from St Edmund’s Church in Egleton on Wednesday night last week.

Two of the sections were left rolled up next to the church but one was taken. The total value of the three sections is £1,500.

Sgt Chris Dixon, from Oakham police, said lead was extremely difficult to recover. He is keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious. Call police on 0116 222 2222.
