Two men accused of Neil Corby murder refused bail at Leicester Crown Court

THE two men charged with murdering Oakham man Neil Corby have been refused bail.

Adam Barker, 33, of Willoughby Gardens, Oakham, and Jamie North, 33, of Glen Drive, Oakham, appeared at Leicester Crown Court this morning (Tuesday) to place an application for bail.

The court refused the application and the men will remain in custody.

The men are accused of murdering Mr Corby, 42, of Gaol Street, Oakham, on Wednesday, September 19.

North is also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm to another man.

Barker is also charged with unlawful wounding causing grievous bodily harm to another man.

Two other men arrested in connection with the murder, aged 26 and 47, were released without charge on Friday evening.

Mr Corby’s body was found in a ground floor flat in Gaol Street on Thursday morning.

Police had been called to the flat at about 7.30am on Thursday where they made the discovery.

Gaol Street was cordoned off until 2.30pm while officers carried out inquiries.

An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned on Friday.
