Crimes involving sex and violence revealed as most commonly reported crimes in Oakham and Barleythorpe in Rutland

Violence and sexual offences were the most common crimes reported to police in the latest monthly figures to be released for Oakham.

There were 13 reports of this type of crime during February out of a total 47 crimes reported in the LE15 area that covers the town and Barleythorpe.

Anti-social behaviour was the second most common crime, with nine reports, while there were seven reports of criminal damage and arson.


There was one burglary reported in the area, one incident of shoplifting, and one crime relating to drugs.

Total crime in the area was up from 40 reported incidents in February 2018 to 47 incidents in 2019.
