D-Day veteran Clarence Newcomb of Bourne is awarded the Legion D'Honneur medal for his role in the Second World War




A war veteran has been honoured for his role in the D-Day Landings.

Clarence Newcomb was awarded the Legion D'Honneur medal from the French Embassy for his part in Operation Overlord.

The 94-year-old had kept quiet about his time in Normandy for decades before finally telling his children for the first time 15 years ago.
