The funeral of Michael (David) Needham, 76, of Aykroft, Bourne, took place at Marholm Crematorium, Ernest Fytche officiating.

Son of George and Violet Needham, he was educated at Bourne Secondary Modern School.

David served an apprenticeship as a painter and decorator in his father’s business.

On the death of his father he took over the family shop in Abbey Road, Bourne, selling sporting goods, ceramics and decorating materials.

Selling the shop on the death of his mother, he then worked for Anglian Water, servicing water treatment sites until his retirement.

Keen on shooting he was also a fishing enthusiast.

Family mourners included: John and Diane Yates, Albert and Inez Jacobs, David Ward.

Sympathisers included: Richard and Maureen Hamilton, Edward Heck, John Bryce, Andrew and Dawn Hammond, Mr Rolt, Roy and Barbara Plant.
