A coffee morning held in Bourne has raised more than £500 for the Robert Horrell Macmillan Centre at Peterborough City Hospital.

Jane Mulhern, a patient at the day centre, which helps people with cancer and progressive illnesses, presented the cheque for £537 to staff.

Jane said: “The coffee morning was a great success. I set myself a target of £150 so raising more than £500 is fantastic.

“The staff and volunteers at the day centre are absolute angels. They were so supportive in helping me move forward with my life and were a high point in what was a difficult year.”

Jane has also started a self-help group in Bourne for people who have been newly diagnosed with cancer or who have completed their treatment.

She is pictured holding the cheque and presenting it to deputy sister at the centre, Kate Jurkschat, and occupational therapy student Helen James. Also pictured are staff nurse Nicola Gregson and day centre attendees Noel Staples, Lisci Mehmet, Aidan Fogarty, Julia City, Sarah Arnullhernry and RJ Hamilton
