Parents of year 6 pupils in Rutland are reminded that the deadline for applying to secondary school is October 31 2019

Parents of year six pupils in Rutland are being reminded that the deadline for applying for their preferred secondary school is approaching.

You can now apply for a secondary school place for September 2020 and the closing date for this is October 31 2019.

Coun David Wilby (Con - Ryhall and Casterton), cabinet member for education, said: "We work closely with schools and colleges to make sure there are enough school places available locally for Rutland children and now is the time to submit an application if your child is starting secondary school next year.

"This isn’t a ‘first come, first served’ process but it is important to submit your application before the closing date.

"We also recommend that parents make full use of the three preference options they are given when applying for a school place, and that they read the admissions policies of their preferred schools or colleges before submitting their application.

"We consistently achieve high levels of satisfaction when it comes to school applications and our admissions team are available to help if you have any questions whatsoever.”
