Stamford Arts Centre jobs are likely to be re-structured to save money
Arts centre jobs are likely to be re-structured as part of a cost-saving exercise.
The management of Stamford Arts Centre, Bourne Corn Exchange and The Guildhall in Grantham have been under the microscope in recent months.
Although there are no plans to close the venues, opening hours could be reduced and staff could be made redundant.
The move comes as South Kesteven District Council looks to reduce its costs.
The council spent more than £1.7m on arts and cultural services in the 2019/20 financial year - about 11 per cent of its total service costs.
A report says: “Whilst a highly prized service, spending of this level on a discretionary service, against a fragile financial position which requires the council to make some immediate savings, it was prudent that a comprehensive review was undertaken.”
The proposed re-structure is confidential, but a decision will be made next week. Councillors will also be asked to approve a year-long review of the centres to set out future goals.
