South Kesteven District Council says sites for Stamford and Deepings leisure centres still 'commercially sensitive'

Talks are underway between landowners and South Kesteven District Council over sites for potential leisure centres in Stamford and Market Deeping.

However, SKDC says they remain commercially sensitive and it cannot reveal where the locations are.

Deepings Independent councillor Ashley Baxter quizzed cabinet member for growth, Coun Helen Goral about the matter at the council’s cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Coun Goral further replied that the council was still committed to earlier plans to deliver ‘enhanced leisurefor all’ in 2020-21.

The full council is recommended to agree to fund reports to develop a business case when it meets later this month. The business cases would then be reported back to the council later this year.

Coun Goral said she would not be ‘pinned down’ on saying when she could say where the sites would be, but added: “We will do whatever we can to expedite the process.”

In March, SKDC announced plans for new leisure centres in Stamford and the Deepings.
