Ethel and Norman Lower celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on Thursday last week at Benedict Court in Spalding Road, Deeping St James.

The couple were attending the weekly luncheon club run by Age Concern Deepings.

Ethel and Norman were married at the historic 11th century Saxon St Mary’s Church in the small village of Sompting, West Sussex.

Norman was general office manager for an engineering firm in Shoreham by the Sea in Sussex. They have two sons, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Eight years ago Norman and Ethel moved to Market Deeping to be closer to one of their sons.

They have been attending the Age Concern luncheon club for several years and staff presented them with a card, a bouquet of flowers, and a celebratory cake. Afterwards Norman gave a little speech on behalf of them both thanking everyone for making it such a special day.
