A fun river race has raised hundreds of pounds for charities.

This year’s Deepings Raft Race, which took place on the River Welland in August, was a huge success and raised £3,600 through donations and sponsorship.

The money will be split between three charities at a presentation at Market Deeping Community Primary School on Wednesday.

The school was chosen as it won this year’s raft race banner competition.

Organisers chose to support Great Ormond Street Hospital, Parkinson’s UK and Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals critical care unit.

A small donation will also be made to the Air Cadets who helped on the day.

Next year’s race will be on Sunday, August 2, and the committee is looking to recruit more volunteers. Find out more or get in touch with the organisers by visiting
