Disruption due to broken down train between Peterborough and Grantham

A broken down train between Peterborough and Grantham has brought disruption and delays.

The stalled freight train on the East Coast Main Line brought hour-long delays for passengers today (Monday, July 11).

Services were disrupted between Edinburgh and London, and between Norwich and Liverpool.

The routes affected included:

  • East Midlands Railway between Norwich and Liverpool Lime Street
  • Grand Central between London Kings Cross and Sunderland
  • LNER between London Kings Cross and Leeds / York / Edinburgh
  • Lumo between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh

Although the broken down train was due to be removed this afternoon, an electrical failure in Scotland was due to cause further delays until 4.30pm.
