Lakeside Health Care doctors at Sheepmarket Surgery and St Mary's Medical Centre in Stamford are changing their phone systems
Patients phoning St Mary's Medical Centre or the Sheepmarket Surgery in Stamford will have their calls put through to one system.
The move follows patient feedback and a review of existing lines and systems and the changes will start today (Wednesday, October 23).
A statement on the Lakeside Health Care Stamford website said: "The separate phone systems at the St Mary’s and Sheepmarket sites have been joined together into one system.
"However, there will be no change to the phone numbers you currently use to contact the practice."
The statement adds: "Obviously there are peaks of incoming call demand that are very difficult for us to manage.
"These aregenerally at the start of every day from 8am and when the prescription request line opens at 10am."
As a result, staff are urging patients with non-urgent queries to avoid calling between 8am and 8.30am or between 10am and 10.30am.
They are also looking to increase the hours of the prescription request line 'in the near future', recognising that 'this is also an area of frustration to patients'.
Menu options given to patients calling their surgery have also changed.
These are now:
- For prescription ordering or queries
- For test results
- For appointments
- For queries relating to referrals, medical reports or other administrative areas
- For pre-recorded messages relating to practice information such as opening times
The numbers for the surgeries are 01780 764121 and 01780 437017.
