A Malawi school building project, supported by four retired teachers from Bourne, has been accepted by the Big Give Christmas challenge, which means donations made online on three days in December will be doubled.
Terry and Gill Stoneman, of Haconby and Sheila and Campbell McLelland, of Hanthorpe, who are trustees of Malawi Education Link (MEL) are urging people to help them raise the £2,000 needed for the project -Build Mtetzga a Primary School.
The teachers, who taught in Stamford and Peterborough, got involved with after a trip to Ngala, in Malawi, with a group of students who helped on one of the charity’s school-building projects. Since then they have continued to support them.
Mrs McLelland said: “Being accepted for The Big Give challenge means on the magic days of December 4,5 and 6, from 10am onwards any donations made online will be doubled.” To donate go to thebiggive.org.uk
