DUCKS have a new home to nest in thanks to the efforts of Bourne Civic Society members.

Jim Jones and Doug Fownes built a new duck house in the last few weeks, which now has pride of place at the back of Baldock’s Mill in South Street, Bourne.

Carpenter and joiner Paul Machin donated the materials to build the new one, which has replaced a damaged duck house.

Jim, of Stephenson Way, Bourne, is pleased with how it turned out and said he hopes wildfowl, ducks, coots and moor hens will nest in it.

He said: “They nested in the other one and while they may not nest in the new house this year, hopefully they will in the future.”

The old duck house was built in 1999. Mr Jones built that one too with the help of fellow civic society member Jonathan Smith.
