An early-morning train service from Oakham to London St Pancras will be replaced by a later service in May 2021
An early-morning train service to London is being axed.
East Midlands Railway is introducing a new timetable on May 17 which doesn't includes the 6.10am service from Oakham to London St Pancras.
Passengers on this train would usually arrive in the capital by 7.39am, but it is being replaced by a later service which wouldn't arrive in London until 10.03am.
A new evening service returning from London will leave the city at 6.35pm instead of 5.50pm.
A spokesman for East Midlands Railway said: “Our new timetable provides more seats, quicker journeys and a simpler and more resilient timetable. This includes the introduction of an additional train every hour to and from London, made possible by the introduction of EMR Connect, our new electric train service between London and Corby.
"Alongside this change, EMR will continue to operate morning and evening services between Oakham and London, as well as introducing a new return journey in the middle of the day."
The weekday 9.48am service from Oakham to Derby will also be axed.
The spokesman added: "The limited direct services between Oakham and Derby have been exceptionally lightly used in recent years. In order to make the best and most efficient use of our trains and timetable capacity, these services have been removed. However, our new timetable provides regularly timetabled changes at Leicester to make this journey.”
