Early morning search of river in Stamford following reports of a person falling in


A person reported to have fallen into the River Welland in Stamford sparked an urgent search in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

Police called on the help of fire crews in Stamford, Bourne and Market Deeping at around 1.40am, after receiving reports that a person had entered the water.

They searched the river and banks on St Mary’s Hill but no one was found.
