Boost for pupils learning to read

A THIRD of schools in Lincolnshire have signed up to receive new products to boost reading skills.

The new phonics resources and training are set to revolutionise the way youngsters learn to read by teaching them how to recognise the sounds that individual letters make.

Lincolnshire County Council’s member for children’s services Coun Patricia Bradwell, said: “Almost all children who have a good teaching of phonics will learn the skills they need to tackle new words and go on to read any kind of text. Most importantly they will read for enjoyment. It also helps children who find learning to read difficult.”
