Chance to see a film for free in Stamford during National Schools Film Week

SCHOOL children have the chance to go to the cinema for free during a film festival.

National Schools Film Week will take place from October 15 to 26. Pupils in Stamford are invited to Stamford Arts Centre to watch three free films during the festival.

Organisers are also promoting cinema in schools, supported by an online library.

Film and media lecturer at New College Stamford, Andrew Smith, took students to see films during last year’s festival.

He said: “ I believe this viewing gave the students a chance to view a film at the cinema that they may not necessarily choose to view themselves, therefore hopefully opening up their views and opinions on films that are not necessarily considered blockbusters or high-concept films.”
