A NEW record label and radio station was launched in Stamford on Thursday with an event at Mama Liz’s.

The venue hosted live bands and DJs as part of a launch party for New College Stamford’s latest performing arts ventures, Infinity Records and Infinity Radio.

Infinity Records has released its first EP which features five student artists, including; Askari, Smoking Zebras, Baby G, Conflict and Indigochild.

Infinity Radio will go on air for one week starting May 21. It will broadcast to the surrounding area on 87.7fm and continue to broadcast online and via podcasts.

The launch involved various different departments in the college, with graphics students designing the logos and more than 60 music students taking part in the project.

From September New College Stamford will also run a Foundation Music degree when students will work on the new projects.

Director of learning for creative and performing arts Robin Webber-Jones said: “Our music course has grown and grown in recent years and we have put significant investment into it.

“We wanted to give students a real working platform to develop the skills to succeed in what is a very competitive career.”
