A COLLEGE has applied to convert a former builders’ workshop into a teaching facility.

New College Stamford has submitted plans to South Kesteven District Council to change the use of the former E Bowman and Sons workshop in Cherryholt Road, Stamford.

The college wants to use the building for its construction skills courses, which it says have outgrown its site in Drift Road.

Two full-time and one part-time staff would be based at the new workshop, which would cater for up to 45 students at any one time.

The building would be split into carpentry workshops and a classroom.

Bowman went into administration in January with debts of almost £3.3m.
