PRIMARY school pupils were transported back in time on Monday as part of a learning activity.
Betty Elmer, dressed as Queen Victoria, spoke to children at Brooke Hill Academy about life in Victorian times, from the games children played to changing a nappy.
The children in Years 3 and 4 took part in a Victorian lesson, dressed in Victorian costumes and even had to write on slates.
Teacher Kath Rollison said: “I think the children quite liked the strict teaching style because they were told whether they would have been caned for their behaviour. They really went to town with their costumes.
“The highlights were the toys and they were told a story from Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.”
