PUPILS have been taking part in fire fighting training over a five week period.
Year 8 and 9 pupils from The Charles Read Academy in Corby Glen have been taking part in a Fire Service Skills Course at the fire station in the village for the last couple of months.
Each week, the Year 9 fire cadets were put through their paces on a course which mirrors the first stages of fire officer training. The students selected for this course enjoyed using and learning about working fire equipment such as branches and hoses, breathing apparatus and ladder work.
At the end of the course, the pupils took part in a passing out ceremony at the fire station in front of proud parents and members of staff from The Charles Read Academy.
Teaching assistant Lisa Darrow said: “It has been wonderful to witness these young adults working together with maturity and respect.”
