Emergency water works to cause road disruption

Road closure
Road closure

Temporary traffic restrictions are being put in place along Melton Road, Oakham from Sunday, April 3, for 21 days in order to accommodate emergency water works to nearby properties.

Severn Trent Water must undertake urgent work to replace damaged pipes along the stretch of road from Westgate to Oakham level crossing.

Rather than closing the road, traffic restrictions will create a temporary one way system from Westgate to the junction between Station Road and Melton Road to minimise disruption for road users.

The council has allowed the restrictions along Melton Road to be put in place at this time due to the urgent nature of Severn Trent’s maintenance work.
